"That video works a hell of a lot better with sound," he quips.
Most of us watching this feed have very nice smartphones. Yep.
He notes that they cost $500-$600.
Most people around the world can't afford a phone of that price. True that.
Honestly though the wrist twist to kick the camera into action is very useful. I find myself doing that on other phones I grab by accident.
The average smartphone price is close to $200, he says.
But the problem is the experience in this class is really, really bad.
Woodside says he had used these kinds of phones in the past few weeks, and notes they have small screens, buggy software, and unable to run popular apps.
The alternative is to buy a new "old" smartphone with old specs.
He calls out the Galaxy Fame, with 3.5-inch display, poor camera, weak processor, not a lot of storage.
Motorola calls out Samsung!
Other option is to buy a premium phone that's old, like the iPhone 4.
We think the industry needs to deliver more value for consumer dollars. We think people deserve better, he says.
Okay, Moto G is introduced!
Ah, the Moto G is official!
It's a smartphone that delivers premium experience with today's tech.
Woodside promises it will outperform iPhone 5S and GS4 in some ways.
It is less than a third of the price, he says.
Charlie Tritschler, product manager for Motorola, gets on stage.
Hmmm, affordable but how's the build quality?
Before we created Moto G, we talked to people about what's important to them.
They want the power to multi task, and battery to last all day long, he says.
They want a way to make it customizable, he says.
It has a premium experience at a fraction of the cost of other high end phones, he says.
Moto G has an edge to edge display, a curved back, and Corning Gorilla Glass. It has a waterproof nano coating to protect from splashes.
Ooooh has the same curved back as the Moto X....nice.
The overall quality of Moto G is noticeable, he says.
Moto G has a 4.5-inch display with 720p resolution and 329 ppi. It is the sharpest display in its class, he says.
The display on Moto G is so good, it outperforms the iPhone 5S in resolution and screen, he says.
We wanted to provide outstanding performance AND long battery life.
Hey, I like what I'm seeing so far. Good on you Moto!
Motorola worked with Qualcomm on the latest Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz processor.
That's a quad core processor.
We can literally provide battery life all day long, he says.
It has more talk time than other premium smartphones, he says, again pointing out iPhone 5S.
Moto G will ship with Android 4.3, and Motorola is guaranteeing upgrade to 4.4.
