Comes in silver and white, and space gray.
No gold iPad. Sorry, Mr. T.
Replaces full-sized iPad. Starts at $499 for 16GB wiFi. And Cellular for $629.
Now -- has 5megapixel camera. And dual microphones.
iPad 2 sticks around at $399.
iPad air ships November 1st.
And now we're seeing a video about it.
Will replace top-of-line iPad. Stays with the $500 minimum price point.
Apple will eliminate the 4th generation iPad. Will continue to ship the iPad 2 at $400.
Apple will now show a video. (Of course.)
With Jony Ive. (Of course.)
And it's starting with Jony Ive who's waxing poetic about the design of the iPad Air, talking up the light weight and the chips. Ive notes that the battery could take up less space, but include the same capacity by moving the other parts around.
It's possible Apple will do that eventually, Seth. But right now, it looks like the iPad Air will become the new flagship model.
If there really is that buzz, Bret, it will bode well for Apple.
Dan Riccio, Apple's hardware guy, talking up other things like the MIMO, and new cameras -- showing people FaceTiming on mountain tops.
And Federighi makes an appearance too, talking up the benefits of the new iLife and iWork software that comes included.
The video is re-iterating that the full iWork suite is free, again making this a strong value proposition.
For me, the thinness and the lighter weight are killer apps. Holding the old iPad for a long period (like to watch a movie) can be taxing.
Video ends and Schiller's out.
Agreed, Joel. Seems way too pricey, given that it's 2.5 years old.
